Hoodia Gordonii-This ingredient is a fad; a fad that is making hoodia sellers’ wallets a lot heavier and not making you any lighter.

Phenylethylamine-This ingredient’s claims to aid in weight loss are to date still up in the air. For one, the act of it even getting to your brain has yet to be decided. And two, if it did, it’s doubtful that it would make a huge difference in your weight loss anyway.

L-Tyrosine-It’s important to note that the amount of L-Tyrosine that is effective in the 500 mg to 1,500 mg per day range. It is unclear how much of this ingredient is in Herbalean FX.

A few good ingredients, but how much is actually in there?

OK, so the problem that is evident right away with Herbalean FX is their supposed “proprietary blend.” Why is this a problem? Well, this is where diet pill companies try to be really tricky. They make a big fuss about how no one else has their proprietary formula and only list the total amounts of all the ingredients, not the amounts of each single ingredient. Are you seeing where this is going? This means that even though Herbalean FX has Advantra Z in it (which is a good diet pill ingredient) the exact amount isn’t listed. So for all we know it could have only 5 mg of Advantra Z. This is especially a concern for me with this diet pill because it contains l-tyrosine. L-tyrosine is a good diet pill ingredient, but is only effective in a dose of 500 to 1,500 mg per day. And given that the whole proprietary formula in Herbalean FX is 1450 mg all together, I seriously doubt that there is enough of this or any ingredient to help you lose weight. The moral of the story: Beware of so-called proprietary formulas!

Herbalean FX’s Marketing

Most of the marketing for Herbalean FX rests on all of the hype around hoodia gordonii. There is a link to a page where you can learn all about this ingredient that is the latest diet pill fad. To date I have yet to find one single clinical study that supports hoodia gordonii’s claim to aid in weight loss. There are plenty of fabricated studies out there, but not one of them is documented or independently performed. On different hoodia hawking websites you’ll often see many of the same selling tactics such as posting “certifications” showing that they provide “authentic” hoodia, showing “official seals,” or including magazine covers that supposedly feature hoodia. All of which are simply fabricated. The bottom line: Don’t use a diet pill that contains hoodia. It won’t work!
