HCG Platinum Review
Does HCG Platinum work?
HCG Platinum is a new weight loss product that is gaining steam. Like hoodia and acai-based weight loss products before it, there is little in the way of science that backs HCG’s ability to help with weight loss. In the weight loss industry that seems to care more about getting your credit card number than helping you lose weight, it is difficult to trust a product that has no scientific backing.Worse yet, there are a few red flags with HCG Platinum.
First of all, HCG Platinum contains HCG, which is found on many sports illegal drug lists. You may remember that baseball star Manny Ramirez tested positive for HGH and received a 50 game suspension from baseball.
The second red flag related to HCG is the diet they recommend. The diet restricts your calorie intake to 500 calories. Yes, you heard it correctly. 500 Calories! That’s like three bananas a day. Of course, you will lose weight if you are only eating a couple of carrot sticks a day but it is not safe. Your body requires at least 1200 calories a day just to function. Your productivity and energy will plummet. 500 calories is near starvation. Whatever amount of weight you lose with the diet will be offset by it screwing up your metabolism. Secondly, no one has the self control to only eat 500 calories a day. On the path to losing weight, it is important to set attainable goals. 500 calories a day is not realistic.
What’s in HCG Platinum?
HCG Platinum comes in liquid form and according to the manufacturers, “HCG Platinum is sublingual; it is administered in liquid form by placing drops under the tongue for absorption into the soft tissues. 5 to 10 drops are placed under the tongue 3 times each day. Some take 4 to 7 drops 4 times a day. The key is that the drops should be taken 10 to 15 minutes before the participant drinks any liquids or eats any food. The number of drops taken each time and the frequency depends on what each participant needs to meet their daily calorie requirement.”
Placing drops under your tongue? Sounds a little strange to me, but considering it contains HCG, it doesn’t surprise me. Here is an ingredient list of what is in HCG Platinum:
- HCG
- L-Arginine
- L-Carnitine
- L-Omithine
HCG is a hormone produced by women during pregnancies. Some believe that it promotes fat loss, but as we stated earlier there is little science backing this claim. L-Arginine is an amino acid that supposedly helps the heart. L-Carnitine more closely resembles a B vitamin than an amino acid. L-Omithine is very similar to L-Arginine. Amino acids are great for providing overall health benefits but are not fat burners.
Is HCG Platinum safe?
The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition has questioned the safety of HCG Platinum. We would like to see more clinical trials before take a stance on HCG’s safety. If you decide to take HCG Platinum, take it with caution.
Perhaps a bigger problem with HCG Platinum is the restrictive diet. If you stay on the 500 calorie diet for more than a few days, it can seriously screw up your metabolism.
How much is HCG Platinum?
HCG Platinum can be purchased from their website for $89.99. There is no money back guarantee.
Is HCG Platinum worth purchasing?
A starvation diet combined with a weight loss product with no clinically proven ingredients are not the way to go if you want to achieve real weight loss.
