Hydroxycut Diet Pill Review
We're often asked if we ever rate a diet pill positively. The answer is that we do (rarely). Why don't we recommend Hydroxycut? We're looking for clinicallly-researched ingredients, at the clinical dosage. There are a few diet pills that have chosen to take this high road, and our favorite is PatenTrim. You can read our review or go to the official site.
One of the most popular diet pill on the market, Hydroxycut claims that you can “Lose up to 4.5 times the weight than diet and exercise alone!” This Hydroxycut review will help you decide for yourself if its claims are legit.
Hydroxycut Ingredients
- Calcium (156 mg)
- Chromium (133mcg)
- Potassium (218 mg)
- Hydroxagen Plus (1.32 g)
- Garcinia Cambogia
- Gymnema Sylvestre
- Soy Phospholipids
- Rhodiola rosea extract
- HydroxyTea (414 mg)
- Green Tea
- Caffeine Anhydrous
- White Tea
- Oolong Tea
Calcium, Potassium and Chromium - While all (at least calcium and potassium) are definitely good for your overall health, they’re not going to help much with weight loss. Chromium has studies both supporting and not supporting its claims of efficacy (although I personally found more non-supporting studies).
Garcinia Cambogia - Meant to be an appetite suppressant, its usefulness has yet to be clinically proven.
Gymnema Sylvestre - Another appetite suppressant that has been shown in clinical studies to be effective when combined with HCA-SX (-Int J Clin Pharmacol Res. 2005;25(3):133-44). What its effectiveness will be when used by itself isnt real clear.
Green Tea - While Hydroxycut doesn’t disclose exactly how much green tea is in the product, it is a proven weight loss ingredient that is backed by tons of research and studies.
Caffeine Anhydrous - A fancy name for caffeine, caffeine anhydrous is one of the few ingredients that has been proven to aid in weight loss time and time again. Its known to increase energy levels dramitacally, having an large impact during exercise.
Hydroxycut Marketing
With an extremely large budget, Hydroxycut is heavy on the marketing. Their website is very professional (one of the best we’ve seen) providing mountains of information about exercise, healthy eating, active lifestyles, you name it. Quite impressive. They have an insane amount of before and after photos (which doesn’t necessarily mean anything), which we’ll at least say are done more professionally than others we’ve seen. (Although according to Wikipedia, the Missouri Attorney General filed a lawsuit claiming that one of these before and after photos were misleading because the woman in the photo had recently been pregnant.) Their marketing is a bit flashy and focused more on “expected” results instead of proven ingredients, which is somewhat frowned upon.
Hydroxycut Pricing
With Hydroxycut being offered in so many different locations, I found prices from $60 to $85 per bottle (150 pills). That’s a little above an average price for a diet pill. Without disclosing exactly how much of the (effective) ingredients are included, its difficult to say if the product fits the bill or not.
Hydroxycut’s Guarantee
The link on their site to buy Hydroxycut cited a 30 day money back guarantee (less shipping and handling). While its better than no guarantee at all, 30 days isn’t a very good guarantee as I see it.
Conclusion
Hydroxycut has proven ingredients (namely green tea and caffeine) which we like (although we really wish they disclosed exactly how much of each is included). Their marketing is heavy handed, which probably explains their high level of success. While some of it may be hype, the large number of satisfied users (I personally know one) leads us to believe that Hydroxycut may actually work. At this point we are neither sold on nor fighting against Hydroxycut. Let us know how it has worked for you!
