L-Phenylalanine
Critic's Top Pick
We're often asked if we ever rate a diet pill positively. The answer is that we do (rarely). Why don't we recommend L-Phenylalanine? We're looking for clinically-researched ingredients, at the clinical dosage. There are a few diet pills that have chosen to take this high road, and our favorite is Apidexin. You can read our review or go to the official site.
L-Phenylalanine is an amino acid that has been shown to aid in appetite suppression. It does this by releasing a hormone called cholecystokinin (CCK) in the intestines which sends a signal to the brain that you are full.
When eating normally, CCK is released as food enters the stomach, triggering the digestive process. Many of the foods you eat contain L-Phenylalanine, such as fish, soy, bananas, avacados, lima beans, sesame seeds, and more. The idea behind taking L-Phenylalanine as a supplement is that it works as an appetite suppressant without having to actually consume the food (and hence calories) that contain it.
L-Phenylalanine and L-Tyrosine, both help in the production of adrenaline as well.
Research
One study1 showed the the injection of L-Phenylalanine did, in fact, show effective signs of appetite suppression in monkeys. It concluded: “The results demonstrate that intravenous exogenous CCK suppresses feeding in rhesus monkeys and suggest that endogenous CCK has the same effect; they are consistent with the hypothesis that CCK is a satiety signal.”
Conclusion
It has been proven in studies that CCK definitely releases the “I’m full” signal to brain. And it is generally accepted across the board that L-Phenylalanine releases CCK. In short, L-Phenylalanine is an effective diet pill ingredient that should aid in appetite suppression. This is one reason why it is seen in so many diet pills. Thumbs up from us.
