MethylHex 4,2 Review
MethylHex 4,2 is a self-proclaimed “Feel Good”, “Fat Burning” diet pill.
Following a weight loss program isn’t always easy. Discouragement can hit pretty hard and cause even the most determined dieters to feel like quitting. So, I can see the appeal of a diet pill that would help you feel happier and more positive–in addition to helping you lose weight faster.
Now what I want to know is if MethylHex 4,2 is actually effective? Does this diet pill use safe ingredients, like those found in Phenphedrine?
MethylHex 4,2 Ingredients
Surprise, surprise! MethylHex 4,2’s ingredients are combined into a proprietary blend of 206 mg…Actually, this is no surprise since most manufacturers use these blends.
I’m not a big fan because proprietary blends make it impossible for me to see if the amounts are safe and effective.
Caffeine anhydrous is in all but a handful of diet pills. It’s used for its proven ability to increase energy, improve focus, burn fat, and reduce water retention.
4-Methylhexan-2-Amine is another name for Dimethylamylamine. This stimulant has been getting a lot of attention over the past several months. It’s linked to the death of two US soldiers, countless reports of serious side effects, and a recent FDA ban.
Corynanthe Extract contains yohimbine, which is another stimulant. It’s supposed to increase energy and unlock your body’s ability to burn fat even when you’re on a low-calorie diet.
Green Tea has caffeine and Epigallocatechin Gallate (EGCG). The latter substance is an antioxidant, which has been proven to increase fat burning rates. It can also rid your body of harmful toxins and help normalize blood sugar levels.
Yerba Mate is also a source of caffeine and it’s supposed to help you burn fat.
L-Arginine is a precursor to the vasodilator nitric oxide. It helps increase blood flow and transport oxygen and nutrients to the muscles. It’s a common ingredient in pre-workout supplements.
Beta Alanine is also found in workout supplement because it has been proven to increase muscle strength and endurance. If you work out regularly, L-Arginine and Beta Alanine could really help.
DMAE has been shown to help with weight loss, but the exact mechanisms are unknown.
The rest of the ingredients in MethylHex 4,2 are kola nut, 3, 7-Dihydro-3, 7-Dimethyl-1H-Purine-2, 6-Dione, white willow bark, Choline Bitartrate, L-Alanine, Capsicum, Sodium Pyruvate, Guanidino Propionic Acid, Hordenine
Could MethylHex 4,2 Be Effective?
Yes, this diet pill could be effective IF it has an effective amount of each proven ingredient (unproven ingredients may not be effective regardless of what dose is used).
Thanks to the proprietary blend, I can’t see what amounts have been used. So I can’t guarantee that MethylHex 4,2 has the right amounts. Based on my research, I’m inclined to think it doesn’t because you need at least 200 mg of caffeine and green tea for them to be effective. The blend total is 206 mg.
Is MethylHex 4,2 Safe?
MethylHex 4,2 shares several ingredients with Phenphedrine. But what MethylHex 4,2 has that Phenphedrine doesn’t have are two potentially harmful ingredients.
Yohimbe is considered to be “possibly unsafe” by WebMD. It has been linked to reports of kidney failure, seizure, and heart attack. These side effects are more likely to occur if you take yohimbe for a long time or in doses of 100 mg or larger. I don’t know how much MethylHex 4,2 has.
4-Methylhexan-2-Amine has been banned for being unsafe. You can read more in the next section.
Overall, I’m not confident that MethylHex 4,2 is the safest diet pill. It’s definitely not as safe as Phenphedrine.
The FDA Ban on DMAA
DMAA, also known as 4-Methylhexan-2-Amine, was banned by the FDA in April 2012. This organization ruled that DMAA is actually a synthetic chemical, not a geranium-derived extract.
Over the past several months, there have been reports of kidney and liver failure, heart attacks, and seizures related to the use of DMAA. In 2011, two US soldiers died after taking a supplement with DMAA.
Is MethylHex 4,2 Still Available?
Soon after the ban on DMAA, the manufacturer of MethylHex 4,2 received a letter from the FDA telling them to remove the substance from their product.
I’m not sure if MethylHex 4,2 has been officially recalled, but it’s no longer available for sale. Sites like GNC.com and LuckyVitamin.com have it listed, but it’s “unavailable” or “on backorder”.
I tried accessing the official website (www.seipharmaceuticals.com), but it was blocked by my anti-virus software for being an “attack page”.
Should You Buy MethylHex 4,2?
Even if MethylHex 4,2 was still available, I would recommend strongly against using it. I expect that eventually SEI pharmaceuticals will release a new product that doesn’t have DMAA, and then we’ll review that product to see if it’s worth buying.
In the meantime, I recommend Phenphedrine. Like MethylHex 4,2, it’s designed to boost your mood and increase fat burning; with the help of safe, proven ingredients.
