Trimspa Review
TrimSpa was quite the popular wieght loss product a while ago. It was marketed heavily by Goen Technologies, the makers of TrimSpa, online as well as in stores. Well, long story short, they ran into trouble with FTC for making false claims about it’s products, somehow kept it’s head above water for another year and a half, and then filed for bankruptcy in March of 2008 (owing upwards of $33 million to creditors). You can read more of the story here. Ouch. But we’ve seen quite a bit of TrimSpa product floating around online, so we’ll still review the pills in case anyone is considering giving it a try.
Ingredients
- Chromium
- Glucomannan
- Cocoa
- Green Tea
- Hoodia Gordonii
- Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose
- Glucosamine HCL
- Citrus Naringin
- Vanadium
Chromium - The jury is still out as to whether or not chromium directly aids in weight loss.
Glucomannan - Has been shown to be an effective appetite suppressant.
Green Tea – Has been shown to increase the metabolic rate, aid in weight loss.
Hoodia Gordonii - A worthless, fad diet pill ingredient that has not been shown to do anything to help you lose weight.
The other ingredients aren’t going to do much, if anything. TrimSpa hides the amounts of each ingredient in a proprietary blend. This is a common practice by many which usually means they don’t want to disclose the amounts since there’s not enough in there to be effective.
TrimSpa’s Marketing
The website is no longer available, but I think that we can clearly see what kind of business tactics they used by looking at the lawsuit filed by the FTC against TrimSpa for making false claims about the effectiveness of the product. Any company that is it troube with the FTC likely doesn’t deserve your money.
TrimSpa’s Price
You can find it online now anywhere from $10 to $25. Again, it’s not worth it.
TrimSpa’s Guarantee
Well, they never had one (which tells you something about the product). But even if they did at one point, they certainly don’t now since the company no longer exists.
Conclusion
The company was shady. The product was inferior. The guarantee was…non existant. Don’t waste your money. Get something that has actually been proven to work. Thumbs down for TrimSpa.
