Chromax Review

The flagship product of a company named Nutrition 21, Chromax is a chromium picolinate supplement that the company claims “providesthe body with the chromium it needs to help promote healthy
blood sugar, fight food cravings, and support cardiovascular health.” But beyond that information, there isn’t a whole lot more to learn about Chromax–at least that’s how it seems on Nutrition 21′s website. Check out the one listed ingredient:

Yes, that is in fact the only ingredient listed for Chromax. While many claim that chromium may significantly aid in weight loss, it has only been proven that chromium helps regulate blood sugar levels. According to Nutrition 21, however, chromium picolinate is the most widely researched form of chromium that helps the body better absorb and process minerals. So again, there may have been a number of studies that show how chromium (or chromium picolinate) helps in insulin regulation, but this doesn’t necessarily correlate into weight loss.

Chromax’s Marketing

On the Nutrition 21 website they claim that there are more than 35 published clinical trials about the safety and efficacy of chromium picolinate. However, not one of these studies is made available. Do they expect us to just take their word for it? Besides, we don’t even know if chromium picolinate is the only ingredient found in Chromax because they don’t list the ingredients.

Nutrition 21 is also proud of the fact that they have patented chromium picolinate for “reducing hyperglycemia and stabilizing blood glucose, increasing lean body mass and reducing body fat, and for maintaining healthy cholesterol levels.” But just because they managed to get a patent, doen’t necessarily mean that the product will work. This just means that they can sue someone for trying to use their form of chromium picolinate in a different weight loss product. We would like to see some real proof, not just some trumped up claims about studies and patents.

While you can’t buy Chromax directly from the Nutrition 21 webite, they do direct you to a variety of retailers who offer this product. The price for a 200-count bottle of Chromax ranges from $13.64 on Amazon.com to $29.99 at CVS online. This may seem like a good price upfront, but remember: You usually get what you pay for.

Chromax Guarantee

As far as we can tell, Nutrition 21 offers no guarantee on Chromax. Individual retailers may have their own internal return policy, but this appears to be a buy-at-your-own-risk product.

Conclusion

The only thing that chromium has been proven to do is help regulate blood sugar levels. So if you need help with that, you may want to talk to your doctor about taking a chromium supplement. Aside from regulating insulin, however, chromium may or may not help you lose weight. This, along with the fact that any additional ingredients found in Chromax are not listed on the company’s website, leads us to believe that Chromax is just another product full of nothing but empty promises.
